Our Diagnostic Procedures

Electroencephalogram (EEG)

Using electrodes attached to your scalp, an Electroencephalogram is a test that monitors the electrical impulse that occur when brain cells communicate with each other, allowing the doctor to diagnose a number of different brain disorders.

Video-EEG Monitor

Video-EEG monitoring has emerged as the “gold standard” for the diagnosis of Epilepsy, complex seizure disorders, nonepileptic seizures (NESs). Ambulatory EEG monitoring enables your doctor to observe your EEG over a prolonged period of time. Ambulatory monitoring can help diagnose your seizure type and provides important information regarding the best treatment for your seizures. During video-EEG monitoring, EEG wires will be attached to your head with a special glue so that the electrodes will stay attached for several days. Portable video cameras provide continuous behavioral observation. During the study, the patient can move around and carry out normal daily activities, such as talking, reading and watching television.

Evoke Potential (EP)

We often perform the Evoke Potential (EP) diagnostic procedure to identify the presence of multiple sclerosis (MS). The test involves stimulating certain neural pathways in the brain and measuring the resulting electrical activity. Slow conduction in the pathways maybe a sign of damage.

Nerve Conduction and Electromyography (NCV/ EMG)

We may use the Nerve Conduction and Electromyography (NCV/EMG) diagnostics test to look at the causes of nerve damage, muscle damage, or the presence of disease that damage muscles and nerves. The test monitors the electrical impulses of muscles at rest and when contracted. The procedure is particularly helpful in diagnosing different forms of muscle and nerve disease.

Carotid Doppler (CD)

Using high-frequency sound waves, the Carotid Doppler (CD test) monitors the blood flow in the brain, identifying passages clogged with plaque. May be performed to assess the patient’s risk of a stroke.

Transcranial Doppler (TCD)

Using ultrasound technology, the Transcranial Doppler (TCD) procedure monitors the blood flow in the brain, allowing the doctors to diagnose a variety of different brain disorders.

Vestibular Nystagmography (VNG)

If you have dizziness or balance issues we may perform a Vestibular Nystagmography (VNG) procedure. The test monitors your inner ear and central motor functions. The doctor can then accurately diagnose the factors behind your problems with balance. The test is in four parts and is the only one that can identify problems in one or both ears.

Ultrasounds for Diagnosing CTS and Joint Arthritis

An ultrasound allows the doctors to take a clear image of your current joint health, identifying the presence of inflammation and assessing the extent of the problem.
