Symptoms of ADHD

If you’ve noticed your child is disruptive and defiant, has trouble concentrating, has difficulties getting along with others, and seems easily distracted, they have ADHD.

What Is ADHD?

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a common behavioral disorder that is identified when a child displays a consistent pattern of inattention or hyperactive-impulsive behaviors that interfere with functioning or development.

Inattention: Wanders off when trying to complete a task, trouble staying focus, and is disorganized

Hyperactivity: Seems like they are constantly moving – including in situations in when it is appropriate – such as in the classroom

Impulsivity: Does not think a decision through, specifically in situations which could have a potential for harm

How Does ADHD Develop?

While environmental factors can contribute to the onset of ADHD, they don’t appear to trigger ADHD by itself. Researchers are not sure of the exact cause of ADHD in children, but studies indicate that a combination of genetics and environment could be a stimulant.

ADHD Symptoms

For children with ADHD, inattention, impulsivity and difficulty concentrating is more severe, happens more often, and interferes with how they function socially and at school.
